The Bible Jumpstart Project
The kids are home… make the most of the opportunity.
On March 16, schools in many places closed for the foreseeable future because of the Coronavirus. We are in a strange time of uncertainty, anxiety, and growing hardship. And yet it is also a time of opportunity. If you’re like me, your kids are home and you now have time—lots of time—with them and are figuring out how to make the most of it. One vital way to use that time well is to get into Scripture with our kids. Here’s a tool that can help. Watch “Parents—Start Here” below to hear more and then on to the first series: Why Jesus Is the Best. There will be new videos each day, Monday-Friday.

Parents, here is the explanation of the Bible Jumpstart Project and how it can be a help to your family.
Current Series: The Sermon On the Mount
Challenging words from Jesus: to be angry with someone is to murder them in your heart. What do we do with our anger?
If we’re saved by God’s grace and not by being good, why does it matter whether or not we obey God? Paul tackled that question in Romans, but before that Jesus addressed it in Matthew 5. “I came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it.” What does that mean?
Do you ever wonder if our following Jesus really matters, really makes any difference? Not just difference for us, but difference for the world? A difference for God? Jesus said it does because we are salt and we are light. That goes for us as adults, but also for our children. Their lives matter—and they need to know it.
The last of the Beatitudes is actually a pair—Jesus telling us twice that we are blessed when we are persecuted by others because we belong to Jesus. How is that good news? And how do we talk to our children about being persecuted? Here’s one way to tackle it.
The Sermon on the Mount is immensely practical and helpful, and in Matthew 5:9 Jesus puts his finger on what we so desperately need right now—Blessed are the peacemakers.
Who gets to see God? Why is seeing him such a big deal? Find out all this and more….
Who needs mercy? We all do. Who is called to show mercy? All of us. Who shows us the ultimate mercy? Jesus does.
Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” What does that mean and do we help our kids understand it? Well, it starts with a box of Cheerios….
Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek,” but that doesn’t necessarily sound like good news to us. Why is this life-giving for us?
We are in a difficult and sad time right now with the pandemic. It is, in many ways, a time of mourning. What comfort does Jesus offer us in the midst of mourning? And how do we talk to our children about that hope? Let’s look at Jesus’ promise, “Blessed are those who mourn….”
